A desktop business management system for billing, stock control, purchases, sales, and operational reporting.
Billing and stock tracking were handled separately, which meant stock counts were always a step behind actual sales. I built a desktop system where every bill automatically updates stock, purchases, and sales records in one place.
By replacing double entry ledgers, the stock books balance in real time. Checkout registers sync with inventory dynamically, mapping margins and updates without lag.
The desktop application maps barcode inputs instantly to local SQLite datasets. Concurrency locks coordinate billing actions, ensuring local records stay synchronized and correct during concurrent checkouts.
Fast barcode-scanning register interface designed to run offline on local desktop terminals.
Automatically decrements product inventory logs upon checkout validation.
Tracks inbound raw material purchases and matches invoice records with suppliers.
Roster detailing item names, barcode codes, purchase costs, and sales prices.
Ledger tracking invoices, payment types (Cash, UPI), and daily checkout volumes.
Summarizes purchase costs, revenue margins, fast-selling inventory items, and net returns.
"Keeping desktop stock counts accurate under concurrent billing and migrating from an old manual system was the core challenge."
Because multiple registers execute transactions concurrently, writing stock changes to local files could corrupt database indexes or drop checkouts.
To solve this, I built a transaction coordination system. The engine schedules billing actions, updating local stock database files using atomic transaction locks to prevent concurrency errors.
Rainbow Coating optimized their offline billing terminals completely, ensuring register queues move quickly while stock databases sync reliably.
