A live GPS fleet management platform for monitoring food trucks, drivers, and delivery routes in real time.
Nidev's Food Truck needed to know where every truck was, in real time, without calling drivers. I built a dashboard and driver app pair — live GPS pings feed straight into a map view for dispatch, with route history for every vehicle.
By automating fleet route audits, managers can verify travel logs and track delays. Drivers activate simple tracking routes on their phone registers, which feed telemetry data directly to central maps.
The platform utilizes location telemetry processing to sync GPS coordinates directly with Mapbox maps. Adaptive location throttling monitors mobile device accelerometer states to limit battery drain during stationary moments.
Sub-second location telemetry updates rendered on dynamic dispatch maps.
Simple driver dashboard to set active shifts, toggle statuses, and view routes.
Visualizes vehicle track history logs, including stop durations and idle statistics.
Admin dashboard showing active truck coordinates, travel speeds, and driver connection lists.
Notifies dispatch coordinators when active trucks drift from assigned delivery bounds.
Compiles month-end fuel reports, total travel distances, and average delivery times.
"Managing continuous mobile GPS battery drain vs. high-resolution route tracking accuracy was the primary hurdle."
Relying on persistent foreground GPS tracking on driver phones caused severe battery depletion, often draining devices completely before shift cycles ended.
To solve this, I designed an adaptive location polling system. The mobile tracker monitors device accelerometer states, throttling GPS updates when trucks are stationary while ramping up updates to sub-second polling rates when in motion.
Nidev's Food Truck automated their dispatch operations, ensuring map views are always accurate while keeping driver device battery levels healthy.
